Mechanics:

Parveth cuts apart the ant that rushed up to the group and as they move forward, Steam roasts another ant nearby. In response the last remaining red ant moves in their direction, zigging and zagging in an attempt to avoid attacks. Many other ants also seem to tense up, but there's still some moving of eggs... though they're being directed to a different wall now. With their attention divided, Parveth doesn't notice in time and Steam only just barely, when one of the acid spraying ants pops up over the wall to fire a stream of acid at the pair and then ducks back around out of sight.

"Stop moving so much Josaphine!"

Adelinde blinked at the minicorn's command from atop her head, mostly because it took her a moment to realize it was speaking to her. After trying to move her head a little less to make the ride a bit more comfortable a hum escapes her throat as her thoughts are brought to the minicorn and its sudden appearance earlier. Mulling over its sudden appearance from a burst of magic she can't help but come to a certain errant thought.

"uh guys? I'm going to try to do something. It should help...maybe...hopefully... err be ready if it all goes horribly wrong."

And with that she reaches out with her own magic to try and grab as much of the ambient magic in the area and pull it to a specific point a little away from the group near the ants. Condensing it as much as possible and trying to focus on her intention to puncture through the veil between realms to the feywild rotating the energies in a manner similar to the carpenter's hand drill she'd seen once in the hope it might make it easier to punch through reality like the wood.

YOLO:

Wrangling the chaotic eddies of magical energy is quite trying and drains off the remaining excess of energy Adelinde had from the Queen's concoction, leaving her feeling as tired as she normally would of a fight of this length. At one moment she thinks it's all about to go terribly awry, but then a portal opens. Then another and another and another and several very small ones pop up nearby. A host of tiny humanoid creatures with dragonfly-like wings that Adelinde, Parveth, and Ketha recognize as Sprites fly forth and grab a bunch of the nearby eggs that aren't piled up high enough to topple over on them and carry them away back through the portals in a mere moment. Somehow they also take away the bonfire Steam had conjured.

For a second Adelinde thinks she completely failed to acquire allies (or at least other combatants for the ants), but then notices that two of the Sprites stayed behind along with a Dryad (which Adelinde and Ketha recognize for what it is).

The Dryad turns it's attentions to something the party can't see and speaks to it. (Probably one of the acid spraying ants that have come over the wall previously?) Or at least that what it sounds like, none of you recognize the language. Adelinde thinks it might have been Sylvan as that makes sense for a fey creature.

One of the acid spraying ants does what it says on the tin and sprays Ketha and Steam with some more acid, though they're expecting it this time and they avoid most of it.

The large ant near the dryad drops off it's load of eggs and turn around and bites into the dryad's leg. The leaves on her leg turn red and she makes a noise that conveys she isn't really happy about what just occurred.

Parveth just knows in general what a Spite is. Adelinde knows they can tell what is in someone's heart and Ketha knows they can turn invisible.

Adelinde and Ketha know what a Dryad is in general. Ketha knows that they can charm people and animals and Adelinde knows the following:

Adelinde summons a Dryad and two Sprites for an unknown duration. They are allies. Steam's concentration on Conjure Bonfire ends. Some of the eggs vanish.

The Dryad uses Fey Charm on Acid Spraying Ant 6. It fails it's save and is charmed by the Dryad for 24 hours or until it passes a save triggered by the party or your fey allies harming it.

Golden Queen Ant does ???.

The wood elf stares for a moment, not sure how she feels about the fey pranksters and...other thing that have appeared from the aether, but the thought passes quickly as her eyes fix on the red ant in front of her. HER PREY.
Not wanting to pass this chance up she whirls at the ant, blades intent on striking down the beast.

Steam moves up, firing a crackling beam at the ant that just bit their new...ally? She then hugs the egg wall, hoping it might provide her some cover from the spitting ants that keep poking over the top of it.

Mechanics:

Parveth and Steam take out their respective marks. There is the now familiar sound of a spray of acid, but the group doesn't see anything. They do hear three thuds in quick succession behind the wall though. The sprites both fire at the same ant, the first misses, the second succeeds and the needle sized arrow appears to put the ant to sleep rather than do serious harm. One of the ants in sight runs around the shorter egg wall out of sight. The remaining two both try to bite the Dryad who just isn't having any more of that apparently.

Adelinde can't help but give a cheer when it seems they've gotten some allies and moves forward a little, taking a shot at one of the ants menacing the dryad. The minicorn just seems to be pleased that there's actually some civilized folk around now.

Ketha held some concerns over the sudden opening and pouring of fey creatures, but she wasn't going to look a gift horse in the moth right now. She moves forward and throws an axe again...

Adelinde and Ketha both kill a pair of the smaller ants. This time Ketha can see as the Dryad speaks to one of the smaller ants and it seems to fall under her sway. Then Ketha sees the enormous queen ant in the distance look in her direction and the acid spraying ant's behavior seems to change. Ketha also notes the queen ant seems to be retreating towards another wall of eggs.

Since what Paper listed was a now invalid target, I asked Kal to change the target and do a new roll. Target was Small Black Ant 19 and the roll was 18 +6 to hit, 4 +4 to damage. Which hits and kills it.

Dryad uses Fey Charm on Small Black Ant 22. It fails it's save and is charmed.

Golden Queen Ant moves from N-P 26-32 to O-Q 25-31 and ???, Acid Spraying Ant 6 is no longer charmed.

Parveth quickly moves along the side of the cave, firing an arrow into one of the ants still on the egg wall. She ends her movement just past the sprites, glancing at them with brief worry before being entirely overwhelmed by how tired she is. If they end up doing something mischievous to her...whatever, she'll deal with that when it happens.

Steam pops her head around the corner to get an idea of what's going on, pausing as her eyes alight on the wooden woman. Deciding now would be a great time to try and impress this random stranger, Steam attempts to do a sweet tumble across the ground, finishing the roll by firing a destructive blast of energy at the small ant still bothering the dryad. "Hey! I don't know who this is, but they're really cool looking and I don't appreciate you attacking them!"
She gives an awkward wink to the dryad after annihilating the small ant.

Mechanics:

Parveth and Steam expertly take down two of the smaller ants. A swarm of ants brings forth from somewhere unseen and tears apart the last remaining of the smaller giant ants. The two sprites fire upon it to little effect.

The Queen retreats farther and then suddenly hurls a mass of eggs at one of the sprites, crushing it in mid-air. Though afterwards there is just a scattering of petals, so it's unclear if the sprite was truly injured. Either way, it's no longer around to help.

Finally turning her gaze to the golden queen, Parveth mutters again beneath her breath as she marks the final prey. She takes a few steps toward the massive ant, loosing an arrow into the queen's side before quickly ducking behind some of the remaining egg wall.

"Yeah! We can do it! Positive energy! Pchoo!" Feeding off the resurgence of energy in her allies, Steam's spirits also seem to rise. She takes a couple of steps forward and, after incanting her spell, fires off the destructive blast at an ant swarm with another self-made sound effect.

Mechanics:

As Parveth's arrow is about to strike the queen, the swarm next to her surges up and catches the arrow with it's mass. The other swarm loses a good few members from the combination of Steam blasting it and it taking the crackling magical punishment of Ketha's magic as it moves to attempt to tear at the Dryad. The remaining sprite's tiny arrow wizzes past, not coming close to hitting anything.
