Mertropolis

Gear Craft grins and prepares his suit, then activates it, stepping through the door. He then takes in his surroundings.

Perception.:

Three people passing by see Gear Craft just walk through the wall and stop and gape.

Inside Gear Craft sees.... nothing. Because he can't see in the dark. Eventually he finds a lamp and manages to light it. The room he's in isn't huge, though it's fairly spacious. There are some paintings on the walls of old buildings or people or events, presumably copies of ones from Old Mertropolis or artistic impressions of what those things would look like at least. There's also a few items on pedestals that look ancient (and sadly not particularly valuable). On the far side there is a sturdy iron door.

Gear Craft checks the door he came through, and ((Assuming no fancy bullcrap)) unlocks it.

The others, if they are listening closely anyway, hear the door unlock.

Coral, feeling uncomfortable with people staring, quickly goes up to the now unlocked door and goes inside.

Col rushes in. "So much for being natural, everyone get in!"

After the initial surprise of seeing a giraffe walk through a closed door, and now noticing the gaping passer-bys, Floe flies "excitedly" around where she was and the people watching while shouting "Woah! Woah! That was amazing!" She then remains in place and starts applauding and cheering. "Wow, that was, wow. Amazing magic trick. No wonder they call him... Magnets the Magnificent!"

(Persuasion Roll: 17 (Roll) + 9 (Bonus) = 26)

Coral perks her ears, then they go back. "I hate that. I really, really hate that."

Gear Craft, realizing his error, walks out and begins bowing.

The three (and now more) people look at Floe in confusion and one person (a new one) jeers, "Who calls hims that and was it because he lost a bet?"

Gear Craft, slightly miffed, feels for any technology primarily on the three, but also the crowd.

One of them is wearing a steam powered belt buckle. It's a fashion thing. Not a particularly smart one. Look, don't ask. It's just the style of the times.

Gear Craft mutters, "It's a cool name."

One of the three still looks unconvinced. About the magic trick. Nobody is convinced that's a cool name.

Gear Craft sighs, then breaths in and says, as hammily as possible,"Oh? You still don't believe? You dare still doubt my power?!" He then  waves his arms around, and a deck of cards ,(or at least it appears to be), appear in his hoof. He then fumbles and drops them, cursing loudly as he does so. While he does that, however, he silently reaches out to the belt buckle and orders it to unbuckle. If I'm gonna pretend to be a loser, the least  can do is have a little fun with it.
((Activating Mirage, deck of cards, now scattered. Also dropping that guy's pants.))

Persuasion Roll:

Gear Craft does an admirable job of acting like a terrible stage magician. Like, really really bad. His acting is clearly ham handed and he manages to fumble his illusionary cards even not intentionally a few times. There was a good laugh about the pants dropping. However Gear Craft notes, perhaps irritatedly, that the result is that that guy ends up walking off with one of the ladies. Pretty soon the small crowd disperses, though there is still light amounts of foot traffic passing through the area.

Gear Craft kicks the ground and walks back through the door, sullenly thinking, Great, what kind of girl goes for a guy like THAT?

Coral is curled up on the floor, covering her ears, making funny whining noises. "Make it stooooooooooooooooooooooop!"

Gear Craft, hearing a strange whimpering sound not unlike a dog being castrated, looks around and, seeing Coral, says, "Wait... what the buck? Are you alright?!"

Coral whimpers again, then sighs. "One of my powers is random uncontrollable telepathy. 'I'm too sexy for my pants, Too sexy for my pants'..."

Golden long since stunned into silence bursts into almost uncontrollable laughter and falls over. After weakly pushing herself back up but still laughing frequently "L-lets go down."

Gear Craft bursts out laughing for a second, the quickly stifles it, saying, "Wow, that's gotta SUCK at parties." He helps her up, ((Asssumign no resistance,)) then walks over to the iron door, prepping his suit, and walking through it.

Pre-emptive Perception.:

Slightly Less Pre-Emptive Acrobatics Roll:

Gear Craft walks through the door.... and narrowly avoids falling down a stairwell in the dark. After a bit of poking around he can tell that the door is bolted shut from this side and that the bolts are somewhat stuck.

Gear Craft, heart beating quickly from his near-slinky experience, notices the bolts and tries to pry them free, looking for weak points in the structure to exploit.

Mechanics!:

The rest of the party is stuck waiting around for fifteen minutes as Gear Craft gets distracted from his previous goal by a sudden inspiration for a linked aperture device. Near the end of this process he does actually open the door..., but only so that he can use it for parts.

(You have gained Linked Aperture Device (or you can name it something else). It's a door you can put somewhere a door would go. After an hour of start up time, if it's not moved, it can be used to let you travel through any other Linked Aperture Device. Though there may be an upper limit of how many LADs can share the same "network" safely/reliably. In other words, 3-6, sure. 8-12 hhhhhhmmmmmmm. 20+ um.... HAHAHAHAHAHA please try.)
