Mertropolis

"Hope you find what you're looking for honey." he says as she leaves. "Hope you drop by again soon."

Floe indeed sees a bat pony, wearing glasses on his dark gray muzzle (a color shared by his coat) to help his yellow eyes, his dark brown hair is neat yet very spiked, with matching colored stubble along his face. He turns to face Floe as she walks in, smiling. "Ah, you must be the one Lore was talking about! I'm Bookmark, I've heard about you, actually. Kind of hard to ignore an incident like what you were involved in, especially since my son was there."

"Yeah, though by that point it wasn't unexpected... He has a, well, history with that sort of thing you see. Doesn't stop me from worrying about him though... Anyways, follow me and I'll take you to the..." He paused for a moment, carefully looking around before whispering to her. "The 13th floor, where what you're looking for is kept."

The mention of the 13th floor is confusing to Floe as she was certain it did not exist. She recalls a childhood memory where she was convinced it did and was trying to find it. Doing everything from counting the stairs to examining the outer walls and her father explaining to her that buildings don't usually have a 13th floor due to people feeling the number is unlucky.

"There's a thirteenth floor?" questions Floe in an equally hushed tone...

"Not officially, and I honestly hope you know what you're doing with this stuff." Bookmark replies, still whispering. "Now then, follow me!" He says, starting to walk towards the stairs.

Floe follows closely...

He starts trotting up the stairs, smiling. "Tell me, have you met Col? Aside from the incident, I mean." He asks with a curious tone.

"Col?" Floe thinks about this for a moment. I mean, obviously she knows Col, but how much did her father tell this bat pony? Hopefully not too much. "Yeah, I know Col. I saw him at the statue reveal a few days back."

(Persuasion Check: 13 (Roll) + 9 (Skill) = 22)

"Ah, I see. Kind of hoped you knew what he's been up to recently, as I said, he tends to get into trouble a lot." Bookmark remarks, continuing up.

"Thanks, though I think he knows that already." He chuckles to himself, before they reach the 12th floor. Though instead of entering it fully, he first looks around to make sure nobody's watching.

A goat walks down the stairs.

Bookmark smiles and waves to the goat as he passes by, waiting a bit just in case anybody else is going to use the stairs.

After that he doesn't see or hear anyone else coming at the moment.

He then puts pulls out a key and apparently shoves it into an area of the wall, opening up a hidden door and whispering. "Get in, quickly."

Floe mouths the word "woah" and gets in quickly...

Bookmark slips in after her, taking his key and closing the door behind him. "And here we are, the restricted section." He comments. "Follow me, I'll take you to the area that has what you're looking for. In the mean time, I recommend not you don't take a look at anything else, lots of powerful stuff in here." He says, trotting forwards.

From this side it seems to be a normal wooden door. Looking around the room Floe sees a very brightly lit area that looks more or less like other floors of the library, including the size which should be impossible since it shouldn't fit between the 12th and 14th floors. The lighting is all by glowing orbs or magical lamps or such that are positioned so that there are barely any shadows being cast. Floe notes that even where Boomark's shadow should be cast, it does not show up except on smaller objects. There's certainly a good deal of magic going on here. On the shelves she sees that books, scrolls, tablets, and other objects are kept away from each other in glass cases. A few are on little pedestals set away from anything else. Even just out of the corners of her eyes she notes that some of the books have very strange covers. She also notes a book hanging from the ceiling by four different chains with runes inscribed on them. Occasionally the book jerks one way or another.

Floe silently marvels at this whole floor as she follows Bookmark. It's been so long since she's been so excited to see a book...

Bookmark trots to a shelf. "Ah, here we are." Bookmark says, opening one of the cases and giving her a book. "This should have what you're looking for, but I can't stress enough that you need to be really careful with this sort of thing." He remarks, giving her a somewhat stern, if a bit worried, look. "There's a reason this is kept here, after all... But I trust Lore, and since you're his daughter, I'm pretty sure you can handle it. Just... Be very careful."

(Since Paper requested a description of the book...)

The book has an odd feeling, almost like crumbled paper, thin white cover with black symbols on it. It's about the thickness of a regular length paperback novel but about an inch taller and wider.

Floe inspects the outside of the book before assuring the bat pony "Yeah, I'll be careful. Thanks."

"Right, now let's get out of here." Bookmark says, trotting back to the door.
