I vote for scouting out the other lifeforms, that way you can determine which are the weak ones to ambush, consume, and start down our glorious path of becoming apex predator! mwuaaahahahahahaa!

Well obviously we're going to do that later but only after we've evolved stuff that lets us kill good.

EDIT: Good plan for looking for the weak ones but combat wise us at the very beginning would be a match for us.

Ok, you spend time looking at various life forms. You see the following varieties: a really large one, large with flagella, three different ones with three spikes in different places, one with a jet and flagella, several that have no distinguishing feature you can tell, a large one with a thick outer layer, one with an eyestalk and a jet.

You are now really hungry since you have just been looking at things. Your next actions should be to eat something as soon as possible and you are lacking the energy to put up a serious fight.

If the crystal is still there, go after it: easy food.

You make haste to the bit of crystal floating down in the dark where you can't see anything else (and only it because it's reflecting light). You nom on it for a bit.... and continue to do so.... until..... you finish. Somewhere in your future brain you are thinking that the dice gods decided to favor you.

I also want to note that you can do things like evolve a second (or third or fourth or whateverth) of something you already have a bit easier than a whole new thing. I won't really be showing you the mechanics of that, but just trust me on it. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know.

I say evolve another eye stalk: easier to see how far away something is if you have more than one eye (depth perception!).

I suggest we evolve a jet, but on the front of us for extra control-ability and the ability to retreat really fast.

Some kind of offense or defense would be good, given how often it's coming up so far.
I'm gonna suggest either the escape jet or a sharpening / hardening of the tip of the flagella so we've got like a spike whip. Also naturally flays anything if we're swimming away from it.

Edit: You guys want that to be simply that it's hard and sharp at the end or do you want it to have some spikes on it like a spiked club?

You can't see very well down here, but you get the faint impression of movement nearby.

I suggest getting the spiked flagella out of here and back to somewhere we can use our vision to get a leg up on things. Like that bustling rock, if that's still nearby.
Also, side spikes like a club would be my vote, though if that impacts movement moderately just spike the end of it.

I also suggest going back up toward the light, since we now have higher defensive capabilities.

Ok, you swim up and notice a big amoeba fighting with several other things at once, and seemingly winning at the moment.

Avoid the amoeba. Fighting it may be too dangerous, even with the spiked flagella (which I also think should be spiked like a club)

I concur, avoid the amoeba. I suggest as a subsequent action we look around for another crystal or one of those creatures we scouted earlier.
Actually, on second thought, let's wait the battle out a bit, then swoop in and pick off the weakened combatants after it's mostly finished.
Unless the bunch of creatures attacking the amoeba seem to be doing so in a group effort and there's quite a few of them left or the amoeba just completely wrecks the attacking creatures.

You decide to run run away like a cowardly coward. It was probably the right choice. The closest food you can find are a large but otherwise featureless creature and a corpse of a creature that has been frozen in a small bit of ice.

Go after the large featureless creature with your vision and flagella and spiked flagella yeah!

Ok. The poor beast stands little chance against you as it can neither outrun you nor put up much of a defense against you thanks to your ability to see and having an actual weapon. Once it's dead, you chow down.

Ok, time for us to move to multi-cell creature stage. You'll still be a microscopic organism, but now it's important to decide at least vaguely what you look like. (Though you might want to figure this out after making the following choices.)

Oh, you're also getting another evolution. With the addition option of adding an extra of something you already have (flagella with spikes, eyestalk, or whatever new thing you're getting if it's something having multiple of makes any sense for.)

For now we're not going to question how you breath or if you need to or how those matters are handled. As usual, we're assuming you have the basic features you need to still be alive in a water/liquid nitrogen environment.

I propose we evolve our cells into a bowl shape. All the eye stalks can be on the outside of the bowl, and the flagella on the inside, kind of like a jellyfish.

I think we should get an exoskeleton like a lobster or one of those ancient fish with the shells.
