"The beasts of burden are all in use for field work." Dravar replies in a matter-of-fact tone to the probably rhetorical question.

"oh yeah? one couldn't be spared for us gathering a bunch of stuff for Char? if we're expected to pack all of those bags and stuff full I don't know how we're gonna travel back with it all..." Steam mumbles from the chair. "hey, ketha. you'll carry me to the tower, right? you'd do that for me, right?"

Ketha turns back to face Steam after he request and merely blinks as a response. She then speaks to the rest of the party as a whole. "I know Feather Fall. Father was adamant we all knew it." She then points to the Arachida Cloak she's wearing, continuing "This'll let me climb well. Rope can keep us together when needed. Any other ideas?"

"Hmmmm. I will see about getting a cart in case you manage multiple trips." Dravar says like he's filling out paperwork.

Steam collapses more on the chair and exhales, letting her spirit escape her body as she is apparently ignored by Ketha. She mutters a "that'd be appreciated," at Dravar.

Parveth nods at Ketha's suggestion. "Good thoughts. I believe Steam's cloak lets her leap, which could be helpful but I don't know that I would exchange her safety for her mobility. Other than the addition of yet more rope I don't personally have any skills I can add, beyond general physical aptitude and climbing ability. It will be curious inside if the floors have remained somewhat structured."

Adelinde sits atop Nyx observing the tower with a combination of awe and bafflement, trying to figure out how something so large could fall in such a precise way. As Steam speaks up Adelinde blushes as she realizes she's the only one with a mount, even if she's fairly sure Nyx couldn't carry anyone else.

After a few moments she clears her throat to mask her awkwardness. "Ahem... as far as climbing goes I should be fine with Nyx. Another stable point on that rope should be helpful."

"All the segments have collapsed onto buildings. We may need to climb those buildings to access them." Ketha gives her neck a stretch. If multiple trips are possible, according to Dravar's comments, then there is no need to rush this except for, well, all the danger this cursed city holds. "Any monster sightings there?" Ketha asks Dravar, without looking at him. She moves to Steam and offers a hand. "Halfway. Then back on your feet."

"Not since we cleared out the area. Though people do avoid it as it is considered a dangerous area nonetheless." Dravar replies, as if giving a lecture.

"The tower and the supporting buildings, as well as the potential unknown dangers inside." Dravar replies, without any hint of emotion or interest.

Steam gasps in excitement and scrambles off the chair frantically. She'd been playing up her tiredness and hadn't really expected Ketha to agree, but she'll absolutely take the dragonborn up on it.
She kind of quickly dusts herself off, kicks the chair to get it to re-compress, and looks at Ketha eagerly for direction on how she'll be carried, just absolutely beaming.

The group travels the rest of the way to the tower until they're at the base of it. They can see the entrance where there clearly used to be big double doors. The doors themselves are nowhere to be seen but there is a line of rust on the ground just outside of it that looks like it might be the remainder of a bar that was meant to block entry.
From here you can't see inside except vague shapes in the darkness inside.

None of you spot any immediate threats aside from the tower itself. Which is a pretty impressive structure, considering its still intact at all. It must have been something to see back before the fall of Kelfas.

Adelinde takes a moment to admire the tower before getting down to business. First casting out with her more magical senses to see if she can distinguish anything about the tower out of the ambient magic. Afterwards she examines it for shifting or damage along seemingly load-bearing sections to see if it looks like they're in any imminent danger of it collapsing on them.

After a moment of considering the doorway somewhat dubiously she fingers her rose ring for a moment and nods. "Right, I'm going to send some lights in there to make it easier to see if there's any traps or creatures. If there is anything alive in there, this might startle them out so be ready." She points her ring towards the doorway and focuses her magic. a set of 4 magical lights forming just past the entrance.

Up close to the tower now, Ketha attempts to understand why it is suspended as it is, and if any magic doing so is at risk of ending. After Adelinde summons her lights, Ketha instructs Mibis to enter the tower and scout the room. She shares her senses with the familar. "Please keep watch for me," she requests to the party as she loses her own sight and hearing...

Steam starts getting the Detect Magic ritual rolling. She expects to get semi-blinded by the ocean of magics again, but hey still should probably look for if there's any major currents in the area.
Parveth keeps an eye on the area around them while Ketha/Mibis scout, making sure that the current trend of 'no immediate threats' continues.

Steam is rendered unconscious for several minutes as she completes her ritual. Adelinde can immediately sense why as incredibly strong magic is flowing off of this tower in all directions. It's too intense for her to get much of a sense for it beyond that. Ketha can tell that the main reason the tower hasn't collapsed further is because of the strength of the magical stone its made from, she can't really tell if there is or isn't something else going on too as there's just so much magic of different types flowing about.

Adelinde's deduction of the state of the tower is that..... yes it's most likely in danger of collapsing. Not this base part, it seems pretty sturdy still. But the rest of it.....well the tower pieces themselves probably won't break into more parts, there's a very real danger of them shifting from their precarious positions. And looking at the nearest non-tower building that is holding up a piece of the tower... it sure isn't made of magical materials and it's been standing with this weight pressing down on it for presumably hundreds of years? It's very surprising its still standing at all. The other two structures are too far away to tell about, but she'd guess they're probably in the same fragile state.
Overall she gets the feeling they should be as careful as possible and avoid touching the non-tower buildings as much as possible.

Parveth doesn't sense any threats in the immediate area.

As Adelinde's lights go into the first floor of the base of the tower a number of insects scuttle into sudden motion in every direction. As Mibis enters the first thing it sees is a curious rat, suddenly confronted with its worst nightmare, that immediately flees out the door.... running right over the unconscious Steam in its hasty retreat.
Inside Mibis sees a room covered in moss and mold, not surprising as it was left open to the elements. The room is otherwise bare, seeming like anything that was in it was either long ago looted by orcs or animals or has just deteriorated over time. On the few spots not entirely covered by moss or mold Mibis can see dark marks. Some that look like the blackening of fire and others that seems to be dark stains of something or other. Curving around the right side of the room and going upwards is a staircase. It is lightly covered in small bits of broken stone from the tower.

Steam lets out a "Oh it's bwuhhhhhhhhhh..." as she collapses to the ground, drool flowing from her mouth as a flash of rainbow plays over her eyes.

"Well that's a foreboding start." Parveth glances at her for a moment, before quickly scooping her up and leaning the unconscious genasi over her shoulders. "She should wake up before too long and it appears safe for the moment; we can continue taking steps in."

Parveth moves further into the room, checking the dark stains and attempting to figure out what she can about them. How they got there, what they’re made of. All that fun CSI stuff that definitely works.

It’s very difficult with Steam this close, the genasi suddenly moving an arm and flinging her weight across the elf, or muttering nonsense directly into her ear.
Eventually, with a “no I’m definitely cool to walk home, promise, I got this,” Steam stands herself up. She sort of just wobbles there for a moment as her faculties return, but with a final fluttering of her eyes she seems to be mentally present again.
She groans, ”uhhh, okay okay, I’m checking back in. Everybody okay? Team still together?” With a glance around, it becomes apparent they’re still in the entrance room. “Did...did you do the whole tower already, and we’re on our way out?”

Parveth is unable to determine what the nature of the stains is. She might imagine them as splashes of blood from battle or spilled alchemical concoctions, but they could just as easily simply be discoloration from weather and time.

Adelinde moves into the building following the others, with Nyx following behind. She stops for a moment to consider the stains with Parveth before Steam wakes up. briefly considering joking around a biut before shaking her head. "No, you were only out for a short while, we're just now entering."

Looking around she spreads the mage lights out around the party.

Investigation:

Steam breathes a sigh of relief. "Okay good, I was gonna feel really bad if I blacked out right at the start of the tower dive and you all had done everything already without me."
She briefly casts her eyes around the room, before stating, "Doesn't really seem like anything going on in here, move onto next room? Same formation?"

"Sounds like as much of a plan as anything..." Adelinde says with a shrug, waiting for the group to form up before setting the magelights along the stairs so the group can see where they step. "Shall we?"

Ketha sends Mibis up the stairs, with instructions to send a telepathic message if it sees anything. She then leads the party up the stairs...

Upon cursory examination the next four floors are in a very similar state to the first, though with a lot more dust and detritus due to the lack of having a large doorway opening directly to the elements, letting in the rain and allowing wind to blow things in and out.
This ends at the first collapsed point at the top, with the fifth floor barely having room to enter and being entirely collapsed in for more the half the room. There are only a few gaps in the collapsed stonework than might allow for an insect to crawl through, though not being insect sized you can't know for sure if even those would provide a passage through.
