P-Files: Outcast Scene

Some time later.....

Whisper finally has tracked down what she believes is the location of Outcast, the pony Z-Rock asked her to find some time ago. She leads the group out past the edge of the city to the swamp. There's no real indication anyone lives out here, but Whisper isn't discouraged and presses on. Now a bit into the swamp, though on a path of dry land, the group sees the trees getting thicker ahead. From out of the trees come two ponies, stumbling along the path seemingly in a daze.

Coffee followed after Whisper. "So tell me again why we're here?"

"Because Z-Rock, a zebra rock & roll artiste Chitin and I met at a club we had lunch at the other day, asked us to find his friend Outcast. Who according to rumor and wild speculation in a conforming pattern is definitely somewhere near here." Whisper replies.

Whisper just rolls her eyes.

Chitin follows along with an oddly calm expression. "I kinda like it here, it has character." She says as she looks around, spotting the two ponies headed towards them, she narrows her eyes slightly for a moment thinking before whistling loudly to get their attention.

The two ponies look over in response to the noise when Chitin whistles and they... continue walking in your direction so no change. As they're closer now, you can see their eyes have a definite glazed over look.

Chitin thinks there's something off about them (besides what I've already mentioned), but she can't quite place it.

"Hello, there!"

They turn their heads to look at Coffee Mug, but only make a sort of nonverbal response that sounds like "mmnnn" and they continue to walk right past.

"Right friendly, they are."

Coffee turns to Whisper. "Wonder where they came from? And we're going where they came from? Anypony else think this may be a bad idea?"

Whisper shrugs and says, "Well, I'm going anyway."

"I already said I was going. Just felt like pointing out the obvious."

OOC: I'd like to have Coffee cast a spell to erect a mental barrier in order to resist unnatural coercion.

Chitin narrows her eyes as she watches the ponies intently, something about them bugging her.

Rolling to see if Chitin recognizes the symptoms on the ponies from her previous experience with mind magic changelings. Some help'd be nice.))

As Chitin looks over the two ponies Whisper whips out a magnifying class in front of her, helping her see the finer details. Or maybe just giving her a headache.

Chitin notices several things. The first thing is that she recognizes the way these ponies are acting is a short term aftereffect of powerful mind magic, though she has no idea what the spell did specifically or even what kind of mind magic or general effect it might have been used for. The second is that these ponies are not in fact ponies, but changelings in disguise. The third is that she has a headache.

Since you guys are lacking any party members aside from each other, I'm fine with having Whisper throw aid checks and other support your way as that was a big part of her whole deal anyway. (In this particular case DB provided me with an explanation of how Whisper would help.)

As such, I guess you guys should roll a d20 for an MP and remember to have +1 to everything due to Whisper likely having used Instant Party at some point in the day.

Also, ask specifically if you guys want Whisper to use Unheralded Utensil, Generosity, or Attack the Day.

Ok, weird mechanical notes here. Not sure how to rule NPC Changeling's Thousand Faces 34+level DC so either counting them as level 0 or giving Chitin a circumstantial bonus for being a changeling she makes the DC. Though she wasn't particularly checking for that.

Chitin lightly bats the magnifying glass away from her face as she shuts her eyes and rubs at her temples for a moment. After a shot while of massaging her head she turns towards the others and gestures towards the ponies. "Well...first things first... Wherever those two changelings came from, there's someone pretty close by that was messing around with their heads. Seeing as they weren't eaten... worst case scenario is we might be walking right into an inquisitor hive..."
