Chitin thinks for a moment. "An inquisitor is a changeling who specializes in interrogation and manipulation. Lets just say you don't want to be captured by a hive that focuses on that. Unless you WANT to spend the rest of your life in an illusion or as a slave... We should watch out for...mind...domination...stuff..." She says, making a gesture around her head as she struggles to think of a way to describe it. "Like illusions, or traps, or illusions that lead to traps."

"Don't worry Chitin! I'll protect you guys with my psychic powers!" Whisper declares and presses her forehooves up to her head and makes a face of concentrating on focusing her mental powers.

Chitin shakes her head before rubbing at her temples again. "Just keep on guard... Best defense is to just not get caught." she says before continuing along the path warily.

As they walk along the path, after a bit Coffee Mug notes that his spell resisted another spell.

((I'd like from Coffee Mug a Perception check followed by an Arcana check, don't forget about the bonus from Instant Party. As before you can ask for aid checks, but this might get kinda silly as the other two with you aren't really the wizardly sort.))

Coffee Mug notices they have crossed the outer line of magical effect that he thinks forms a circle or other shape boundary around an area. After studying it for a moment he determines that the purpose of the spell is to mask the presence of itself and other spells laid upon the area in a similar manner. He also detects the activation of a different spell, though he can't tell what it did as the first spell is blocking his full perception of it.

Coffee stops for a moment. "We've passed a perimeter of sorts. There are spells here that to do something, I'm not sure what. The one we just crossed, however, was meant to mask the purpose of the other spells."

Chiten considers the news for a moment. "I'd be willing to wager at least one of those spells its trying to hide is an alarm of sorts. They probably know we're here."

"That's a fair guess. What do we want to do about it? On the one hoof we could pretend to blunder into the rest of the traps. and appear incompetent and more importantly, non-threatening. Or we could try to disable the rest, and risk them over-estimating our threat level."

Chitin considers the question for a moment. "Ideally I'd have us just leave. But baring that... the best thing to do would be to have some way to resist mental influence and determine if we want to play along with the trap on a case by case basis. Illusions and mental traps aren't the kind you want to just blunder into..."

Coffee Mug not only grants Whisper and Chitin the intended spell effect, but also boosts his own and winds up adding to it. He can now see through the arcane perception blocking spell and gets a good look at all the other spells. Of which there are a great deal. Some are layered on top of each other, others are connected by triggering chains, others have their own triggers. All of them are set up in a permanent fashion that must have taken a good deal of time and would be very difficult to remove or tamper with (and there are more than a couple spells specifically set up for dealing with somepony trying to). What sticks out to him are the following, but there are many more: the arcane perception blocking spell, a basic alarm spell that is connected to a scrying spell which is connected to a mind reading spell which is then connected to several different spells with their own individual triggers and they can all be triggered by command of the caster as well (one of which is a strong avoidance spell which would cause unwelcome guests to feel like going some other place), a spell connected to the scrying spell that pierces changeling disguises, and several other spells that are tailored specifically to target changelings (most notably a holding spell connected to a hypnosis spell), and there is a shield spell which looks like it can block physical and magical effects in either or both directions at the whim of the caster. Oh, and there was a special alarm spell connected to the mind reading spell if the mind reading is blocked.... which has just been triggered. (Also the scrying spell was already triggered.) Currently it doesn't seem like any of the spells that would prevent you from continuing on have been triggered.

Coffee inhales sharply. "The feedback from that last spell seems to affected my previous one, providing a true-seeing effect. The area of is literally littered with spells, and there's no way to avoid them. The good news is that they're either of the detection type which lets them know we're here, which they already do, or the mentally affecting, which we're now already shielded from. There are also a few holding and shielding spells, but we can deal with them as we come to them. So, do we proceed?"

Chitin turns back towards the path ahead before continuing walking, keeping an eye out for more physical traps or concerns. "Well then there's our answer...and I don't know, Whisper, can you?" She says with a grin.

Re: P-Files: Outcast Scene

For some reason Whisper looks a little upset at this response, but doesn't say anything and she follows Chitin down the path.

Chitin sees no evidence of traps, though as the path goes on they enter the swamp (though the path still stays above water level) and there are some odd plants here and there that might be dangerous, but they don't pose any pressing danger at the moment at least. (The path is pretty wide btw, wide enough for about six ponies to walk side by side relatively comfortably.)

They continue on the path until the sun is mostly blocked out by the thickness of the trees. Ahead of them they spot a wooden house (neither particularly large nor small) up on stilts to keep above the swamp. It has a short row of stairs to the front door. Nothing particular stands out about the house aside from its location. It looks about what you would expect from any house anypony would build out here (assuming ponies actually were in the habit of doing so). It looks pretty well kept, though there are vines growing from the swamp all the way to the roof in some places.

Chitin looks the little swamp shack up and down a few times before looking around for a small rock. Finding one, she levitates it up to the house and knocks on the door with it.

In response to the knocking, the door opens almost immediately as if somepony had just been standing there by the door ready to open it when somepony knocked. Standing in the doorway is....

She smiles at the trio and says, "Welcome to my humble abode young ponies and Chitin, it is Chitin right? I'm not 100% sure because somepony is blocking some of my spells. Anyhay, please do come in." and with that she turns back around and disappears inside the house.
