Paper Shadow's Super Slice of Life Adventure

Post  Paper Shadow on Tue May 20, 2014 3:33 am

Hushbrook is a little snowy village at the northern end of Eurclope. Situated on the top of a hill, it is popular among those who wish to get away from their old busy lives to a snowy place at an affordable price. Sadly, its seclusion is also its downside. It's an hour long walk in the snow to the next town, the trains have stopped coming due to the unpredictable weather, the post office is out of commission, visits are rare, tourists are unheard of, snowstorms are tremendous in the winter, so on and so forth. Still, the community is tightly knit. One such example is an energetic friend of yours called Pine Needles, an earth pony whose heart is bigger than his head. It's his birthday today, and he has asked you to come to his house in the morning...

Player Characters:
Chance the Deer
Lickity Split the Unicorn
Starsong the Pegasus

Pre-Game Roleplay (and Ramsus being a baddie)

Non-Player Characters:
Pine Needles
"Well, to make a long story short, say hello to the new post master!"
An energetic young adult earth pony who lives life by the minute. A member of the Pine Family, foresters all over Northern Eurclope, he lives with his old grandfather Bark Chips, taking care of the old stallion and occasionally taking down trees if someone in town needs it. He tries to befriend anyone and everyone, and likes to collect knick-knacks...

Bark Chips
"Can't you let an old pony sleep?"
Pine Needles Grandfather, an earth pony who refuses to leave Hushbrook having lived there all his life. He rambles on about the good old days...

The Peak Twins
No Quotes Yet
Ridge Peak and Summit Peak are a pair of twins that run the Peak Twin's Coffee & Tea Shoppe, where Chance works. Despite being twins, they both are different races and act like they are from different part of the world. Still, they share a sibling rivalry, with Ridge Peak (green) fighting on the behalf of tea and his brother (brown) for coffee.

Joy Cookie
"Ooh, that's nice dear."
Joy Cookies is an elderly light brown earth pony with a grey mane. She makes cookies for those who ask, enjoy hosting tea parties, and somehow always surprises ponies with stories from her past that are related to an ongoing conversation. It is generally undecided if these stories are true or not...

Clear Beaker
"Still, I wasn't expecting this."
Clear Beaker a former student unicorn who headed up to Hushbrook to do research for his final project just before the trains stopped coming, and ended up settling down after being unable to get back, not even being able to get to the next town through light snow (he's a fragile thing). He's a thin orange unicorn with a blue mane.

Silent Hill
*Inhaling and exhaling noises*
Incredibly tall and unkempt, Silent Hill never talks, he just looks at you with the most intimidating stare you have ever seen. Some say he's lived in Hushbrook his entire life. Some of the younger ponies around say that he is a ghost, a deer who died in a winter snowstorm and now haunts his old home. All ponies seem to know about him is that he is a terrifying sight. No one even knew his name until Chance found it on a package for him.

Berry Blues
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY PINE NEEDLES!"
Berry Blues has done nothing special in his entire life, and somehow ends up at important events. He seems forever doomed to be a background pony.

I made a doe, a female deer. Her name is Chance.

She will have a proper bio hopefully tomorrow.
Edit: Bio done.

Postal worker who's between jobs, Lickity Split

Still needs enough background that he has a semblance of a personality and history.

Here's the link for the (legacy) Pony Tales Aspirations of Harmony PHB:PHB

Ignore the stuff on Combat entirely as well as Abilities and instead use the two following things:Utilities & GE. You get 5 Utilities and some of the GE options might be off the table since some of them are kinda broken. Make sure to ask Paper about things you're taking before setting your heart on them.

Here's the link for the Character Sheet template we use, figured that might be handy.

The House rules we're using are two things:
1) We're not using their Stat/Skill setups and instead we build our own stat/skill blocks. The idea is that you pick two skills for block 1, 2, & 3, and one skill for block 4 and the GM picks where the remaining 4 skills go. Generally for at least the one you pick for the fourth block (if not also the two you pick for the 3rd) you're picking something you don't want to be good at.

2) For Element you can pick any Utility that requires a Magic Point to use, rather than just the Elements/Virtues.

I'll also note here that Streetwise is doubling as Survival since there's no Survival skill built into the system and you'd very rarely ever need both things in the same place and they essentially do the same job depending on location.

Not sure if this needs to be said, but make sure to look over our characters and make sure you're making something that doesn't overlap too heavily with any of ours.

If you're confused about anything the first thing you should do is look at one of our character sheets and see if that clarifies the issue. Otherwise just ask.
