The Demon & the Doll

From a birds eye view our scene looks down on, Nyeiz, one of the largest islands of Okasa. Pulling a bit farther upwards we see the smaller island of Chiel, home to our first protagonist Galatea, as it slowly shifts from its outward spiral above Nyeiz to its inward one, a journey that takes and repeats half a year each way, starting at a spot above the center of Nyeiz and transitioning back to its inward spiral once it has reached the southernmost point above. Time speeds up and we watch the the island of Chiel travel halfway through its path back inwards before we return to normal speeds.

We zoom into the streets of Chiel (the island and the town sharing the same name as there's little else on the island elsewise). The cobbles and homes and other buildings are in good shape, Chiel being home or vacation home mostly to those of some matter of wealth. Down a particular street down a particular alleyway we see a figure appear from the shadows who is himself as dark, if not darker, than them. But we'll come back to him later.

Down on the island of Nyeiz, Galatea is dropping off the younger members of the family she serves and is considered a part of in some ways. She makes sure that the guards here in the family's fall and winter season home are up to the task of the more dangerous city life and updates them on the latest problem behavior of the young ones. She is to leave the following day and return to Chiel to escort the rest of the adults who did not come down for business reasons early on the day after.

While Galatea attends to her tasks, the shadowy figure learns what he can of the dimension of Prime, the four known kingdoms, and other aspects of life here he finds himself ignorant of, if quick to learn.

The next day comes and Galatea boards a zeppelin to head back to Chiel. Earlier that day the demon spots a strange figure, completely concealed by strange blue robes that ripple with light. However nobody else seems to pay this figure much mind, though they are clearly aware of their presence. The demon quickly loses track of the blue robed figure however and thinks no more of it until later in the day he spots it again. Following he once again loses sight of them, but he finds, on a nearby wall, strange glowing golden runes. This pattern of events happens a few more times that day.

Hours into her journey, Galatea looking out from the deck, can see they are getting close to home, though at present they're almost directly under Chiel. Both she and the demon from different perspectives then see several large lines of glowing golden runes all over the island. The demon follows them to their source and sees a brilliant light and he can just barely make out the blue robed figure in the middle of it. Strangely there is no noise. No sound at all in fact, not even from birds or insects or his own footfalls.

Once again the two witness the same event, this time a blink of bright blue light and a whoosh (or roar in the demon's case) of air as the island (and blue robed figure along with it) simply vanish. As the demon falls down through the air towards the zeppelin, they both spot some small slightly shiny object no bigger than a fist falling as well, though too far away for it to be in reach of the demon or have any chance of being caught by the zeppelin.

Galatea, obviously freaked out about this, can only stare in shock at what just happened for a few moments before asking in increasing distress "whathefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuckWHAT THE FUCK?!" while trying to desperately get a grasp on what just happened.

Tuesday, realizing that the island just disappeared and he is now falling from the sky, falls back to the tried and true tactic one resorts to in this situation.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Within moments, Galatea can hear Tuesday's screaming and gets a better look at him as he comes closer. However, it doesn't look like he'll be coming quite close enough to land "safely" in the zeppelin.

She, luckily noticing this, starts shouting at the pilot. "Someone's falling! Change course to catch them! Quickly!" At least this was a little bit more normal... a bit.

The message is passed on, the captain having no way of hearing you from the deck, but not quite fast enough. Galatea can see though it'll be close, Tuesday won't quite make the landing and there's not even thirty seconds to do something about it.

Tuesday starts trying to use his wings to glide or something, though he knows they're pretty useless. "COME ON, YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD FOR SOMETHING BESIDES MY IMAGE YOU USELESS THINGS!"

Galatea looks frantically for something to use, this may be her only lead to what just happened!

Tuesdays wings prove to be about as useless as they look. Galatea finds that she cant see much past the sudden crush of people all trying to get a look to see what's going on. (You've got another couple of seconds to do something.)

"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Galatea, remembering she has hands, attempts to catch the screaming person.

Roll:

On the plus side, Galatea totally catches Tuesday. On the negative side, the weight and force pulls her right over the railing.

As luck would have it however, the people next to her grab hold of her and pull the two of them back aboard.

(Now give me a perception roll from Tuesday.

As they're being hauled up, Tuesday spots the shiny object fall to the island below towards what looks like a lake.

Once they're on board, people are talking loudly and telling Galatea how brave/crazy she is. Then they get a good look at Tuesday and they go silent.

Tuesday starts looking around. "WELL THAT WAS A CLOSE CALL, WASN'T IT?" He exclaims, his mouth a panting a bit too exaggerated to be normal and his "eyes" blazing brightly. "WHO THE HELL MAKES AN ISLAND DISAPPEAR ANYWAYS?!"

Galatea, after thanking the others for saving her and glaring a bit at those who call her crazy, turns to face Tuesday and... stops, staring and not really believing her eyes. What the...?!

The other passengers shrink back at the yelling and then... start asking question and saying things and generally speaking over one another so that its nearly impossible to make out what any of them are actually saying.

"Whoawaittoomanyquestions!" He exclaims, his mouth shifting to a sort of overly surprised one and his "eyes" losing a bit of their blaze. "One at a time! One at a time!"

Galatea, knowing that her own questions would probably be lost in all this noise, settles for looking Tuesday over. Pitch black skin... Fire for eyes... Strange mouth... Strange clothes... Just what is this person?!

As the zeppelin turns around and makes its way back to the larger island, Tuesday answers questions evasively. Somewhat dissatisfied, the crowd winds up with a variety of different responses and feelings about what's happened and Tuesday himself, but they're eventually convinced to leave him alone for a while and eat dinner. For the time being at least Tuesday and Galatea find themselves alone on the deck.

"Okay, so... What are you?" Galatea asks.
"Well that's a bit rude."
"I saved your life, the least you could do is answer a question."
Tuesday pauses, his mouth fluctuating rapidly while he thinks, before settling into a simple frown as he crosses his arms. "Ask a different one."
Galatea growls a bit under her breath(Figure of speech) and reaches for her gun. "Do we really have to do this the hard way?"
"...Are you threatening me?"
"Possibly."
"Even though you just saved my life?"
"...Damn it." She lowers her arm, angry that her bluff was called. "Could you at least tell me your name?!"
"Tuesday."
"What?"
"My name is Tuesday."
"...Seriously."
"What, do you have something against Tuesday?"
"...That is the laziest fake name I've ever heard, and believe me, I've heard a few fake names."
Tuesday's eyes blaze at this remark. "IT'S NOT FAKE!" He then starts to calm down a bit. "At least... I don't think it is."
"...I'm not even going to ask... Do you at least know what caused Chiel to disappear?"
"What the hell is a Chiel?"
"That island that just disappeared!"
"Oh, that. That was caused by this... glowing, blue-robed guy."
"...Well shit."
"You know him? 'Cause I'd really like to pay him back for dropping me out of the sky."
"Not... exactly... I'll explain later."
Tuesday sniffs at the air. (Ignore the fact that he might not have a nose, pretty hard to tell with his skin color.) "I smell food!" And, before Galatea has a chance to stop him, he darts into the zeppelin following the scent.

Quickly finding himself in the dining area, Tuesday is met with the sight of food. Nothing amazingly fancy. Sandwich triangles, sushi, a few kinds of fish, egg rolls (both the kind with meat in them and the other kind), and meat buns. There's of course sake as well as a few different kinds of fruit juices and teas. Additionally there are a few dessert items, mochi, red bean buns, and other such things.

Tuesday, apparently finding that dropping from the sky makes you really hungry,(Either that or he was just hungry in the first place.) starts scarfing down any food he can get his hands on, though he seems to take a particular liking to the desserts.

Galatea, meanwhile, takes this opportunity to think about a few things. Wh- Why'd he just forget my questioning like that?! For that matter, why didn't he give me an answer when I asked what he is? Ugh, why is he so obnoxious?!

Tuesday doesn't notice anything particularly amiss, but then again how would he, being new to the social norms of this world? Galatea on the other hand notices that the other passengers moved away to avoid Tuesday and that the security personnel are giving him odd looks and whispering amongst themselves. She thinks she overhears one of them ask something involving the word detain.

Damn it... I can't have them detain him! He's the only lead I have! Galatea thinks to herself, before rushing over to Tuesday. "Uh, listen, I don't really think we should be here at the moment..."
"What? Why not?"
"Just take my word for it, bad things might happen if we stick around." She remarks, before pushing him out of the room before he causes anymore damage.

Tuesday notices a couple of the security people follow them and notices that others at the posts or wandering around keep an eye on him.

Tuesday, upon seeing this and putting two and two together, twists his mouth into a wide smile. Well, this will be fun!
"Okay, look. You need to stop getting yourself into trouble. Who knows what would happen if you don't think about what you're doing. I mean, I heard some guards in there talk about detaining you! You need to smarten up an- Are you even listening to me?!"
"Huh? Oh, yeah." Tuesday replied dismissively. "Hey, did you see that shiny thing fall as well?"
"You see, this is wh-Wait, shiny object? Now that you mention it I did... was it yours?"
"No, but considering it was the only other thing that fell with me it might be important."
"That's... actually a good point... Hopefully it landed somewhere close and wasn't fragile..." Galatea winced.
"Oh, and there are guards walking towards us." He remarked off-handidly.
"WHAT?!" She shouted, spinning around and facing the guards. "Hello there... This friend of mine is in trouble, isn't he?"

The security personnel hadn't been following quite that closely so one of them had to walk closer to really be in conversational distance. Before he did, the four who were in the area shared a brief look and it seemed like he was just the one to give in. "Look, this is way crazier than what we're being paid for and you and that... whatever he.... it? is don't need to worry about us as long as you don't cause trouble. But we're probably going to be asked to hand him over to some official or other for questioning when we land. It'd make it a lot easier for us if he didn't try to run when that happened. Also, you should advise him to stay away from the others. Seems like a lot of the passengers are already starting to think what happened was his fault. And a lot of them had family and friends there."

"Right, well that's reasonable I suppose. He was the only one we know of that didn't go with the island..."
"I'm right here you know, and for your information I'm male and don't like being called "It"." He remarked, though not really all that angry. "Questions would be... annoying, but I suppose that they should clear up my name." He thinks, his "mouth" twisting with no real form after he says this, before settling on a neutral expression. "I guess I can answer questions if it would save me trouble." He shrugged. "And I'll stay away from the others if it will get them off my case. Though I doubt anyone would make a whole island disappear and then fall to their death because they didn't have an escape, that's just bad planning."
"Well that's a relief, I suppose." Galatea sighed. "Actually, did any of you notice that shiny object that fell as well? It could have something to do with what happened..."

"Shiny object? No...." the security guy responds and goes over to asks the others if they saw anything like that.

"Well, if it would be better if you stayed away from other people we could always go to my cabin."
"That... works, I guess, I have something to tell you anyways that would be better kept private."
"Okay then..." She remarks, obviously a bit confused, though she still leads the way to her cabin and the two step in.
"Alright," Tuesday takes a pause to make sure the door's closed. "I'm not actually planning to stick around to answer questions."
"What? Why?" Galatea exclaims in a hushed tone.
"Because frankly, interrogation doesn't sound like something I want to go through, not to mention they probably wouldn't believe me anyways." He says in an equally hushed tone, his mouth becoming a slightly serious, somewhat angry frown.
"You... well then what are you going to do?" She asks, a bit frustrated but understanding none-the-less.
"Depends on where we dock, honestly. If possible I'd like to just slip away, but if that doesn't work we'll have to resort to running." He grimaces. "Or, alternatively, we could have to fight through once we land." He smiles a bit at this, but remains a serious tone.
"Really? That's your plan?"
"Do you have a better one?"
"I... ugh... I can't believe this..." She sighs, sitting down on the bed. Tuesday pulls his weapons out and starts looking them over. After a while Galatea, while realizing this isn't something that can be avoided, takes stock of her ammo and looks her six-shooter over before loading typical ammunition into it. Though she hopes she won't have to fight, it's always good to be prepared.
After this, Tuesday put his weapons away. "Right, let's see if we can find some way to sneak away instead of just improvising." He remarked.
"It's preferable to fighting my colleagues, that's for sure." Galatea remarked, holstering her six-shooter. After which they both walked out of the cabin and began looking around the zeppelin.

Rolls:

The pair, barely, manage to avoid being noticed as they split up and look around. Galatea kept having to avoid people and ended up spending an hour failing to find any useful escape aside from possibly jumping off over the sides (though people would obviously notice that). Tuesday has somewhat better luck, finding the cargo section and noting there was only one person guarding it and also finding a similar situation for the engine room. Still, those places would be a bit difficult to sneak into and the cargo bay might be hard to sneak out of unnoticed. Neither has any idea for sure what the inside of the engine room however or how difficult it would be to sneak out of.
